Research Papers

These papers range from formal academic work to developing theoretical frameworks. Some are written for researchers, others include plain-language entry points.

Beyond the Vagus: Toward a Coherence Theory of the Heart
Current manuscript in submission.
A phenomenological and field-based extension of Polyvagal Theory exploring the Heart State as a post-regulatory mode of human presence.

Tone as Architecture: Coherence as a Control Parameter in Distributed Systems
Working manuscript.
Explores tone as a temporal interaction structure that shapes coordination in human and human–AI systems.

Murmuration Architecture
In development
A research and field-based exploration

Examines how autonomically regulated individuals may function as distributed coherence nodes in stressed systems.

In plain language:

Something is changing.
Many of us have been living in a constant state of pressure—
holding, bracing, managing, pushing through.
At some point, that way of being stops working.
Not because something is wrong with you,
but because your system can’t hold it anymore.
And in that moment, something else can begin.
A softening.
A breath returning.
A different way of sensing and responding.
This work explores what happens from there.

Sovereign Non-Saving: The Ethics of Relational Coherence
Forthcoming conceptual paper
Develops a physiology-informed ethical framework for non-coercive care, attunement, and participation in self-organizing systems.

Abstracts are provided here; full working manuscripts may be shared selectively with researchers and collaborators on request.
